say they haven't made any arrests. >>> now to developing news out of oakland. crews are fighting what was a raging house fire in oakland tonight. look at those flames just billowing out. the fire broke out on east 19th street and 18th avenue. that's near san antonio park and roosevelt middle school. earlier from skyfox you could see those flames there tearing through that roof. firefighters were warned to get out of the building for fear that part of it might actually collapse. now, there is no word that anyone was inside that house but it is close to several other homes in that neighborhood that crews are trying to protect. we don't know the cause of the fire at this point. investigators today said a fire burning in the east bay hills is now being looked at as a possible arson. we get new details from ktvu's leigh martinez. fire officials also say that fire is about 50% contained. >> reporter: that's right. not so much has changed from this morning. still 50% contained. however, they are feeling very good about the perimeter. it is uc berkeley police which opened up an investigation

here is over. sad morning for oakland firefighters, finding out the news two of their own were shot here in san jose. one, a 30-year-old man, was killed. the other, a 26-year-old man, was taken to the hospital. and is stable. this is the crime scene here. it was active for 8 1/2 hours until they just wrapped it up after that shooting. this is also still happening now. this is video of police doing a yard to yard search in the area to the east and south of us. police detained one person. they want to make sure there are no other suspects still in this area. this happened after a family friendly event. they had music, food, and activities for kids. group of the off-duty firefighters were leaving the event when they were met by a group of men. something happened and shots were fired. >> for there to be that many people, plus it's a family vept. a lot of kids. i can only imagine how scary that must have been to be that close around all of those people and have gunfire around. >> san jose police, san jose fire, oakland fire and units from other departments led a procession on 280 at meri

jose when someone opened fire on two off-duty oakland firefighters, killing one and wounding the other. >> yes. we have more with lee this morning. >> reporter: yes. the officers were attending an event off-duty, taylor street east of japantown. the two firefighters were probationary firefighters. they were attending an event. as they were leaving they were confronted by a group of people then shot. both were taken to separate hospitals. one 30-year-old firefighter was pronounced dead at regional medical center. the other firefighter, 26 years old, had a single gunshot wound and is now in stable condition. after 9:30 police were called out to the 300 block of taylor street on a report someone had been shot. that is when they found the two firefighters with life- threatening injuries. the men were rushed to separate hospitals. one of the probationary firefighters has died. police say the suspect ran from the scene. as of midnight last night they still had not apprehended the suspect. they did end up closing down taylor street from 7th and 9th streets while police, k-9s and a helicopter
