he was trying to run on trump issues but he didn't bring trump into the state. he didn't want to campaign arm in arm with him. what was he trying to accomplish? number one, he was looking at southwest virginia, the rural part of the state. when ed gillespie ran for office here in virginia a few years ago, he did okay down here. he wanted to do a lot more than okay. and donald trump when he ran last year absolutely owned it down here. so the attempt to run on trump issues was to get trump support down here in this part of the state. we can show you, you know what? it kind of worked. ed gillespie when he ran here three years ago he only won that county for instance by 36 points. tonight wins it by 50 if the he got half of what he was looking for. but what's the other thing that ed gillespie was looking for? northern virginia, the suburbs. the college-educated suburbs right outside washington, d.c. almost a quarter of the state's vote is right in there. republicans always struggle in these suburbs. but when donald trump ran last year, he did worse than republicans

president trump's eldest son, donald trump jr. corresponded during the election with wikileaks, the u.s. intelligence agency says is one of the outfits that russian military intelligence used to influence the race. yesterday, they reported from the "atlantic" on the private twitter messages of trump jr. and the wikileaks account believe to be by the founder julian assange, documents earlier turned over to congressional investigators and last night trump jr. released the exchanges that gen on september 20th, 2016, 49 days before polls closed the wikileaks account warned about a new anti-trump website and gave trump jr. the password that wikileaks says it guessed. they wrote back 12 hours later, off the record, i don't know who that is, but i'll ask around. an anonymous source familiar with russian interference told the "atlantic" on the same day, trump jr. did ask around, e-mailing other senior campaign official, including the bannon, kellyanne conway, digital media director and jared kushner, kushner reportedly forwarded the e-mai

, you know, the trump agenda. and all of a sudden gillespie caught fire because hays embracing trumpism. i think it's pretty straightforward. if you look in virginia, you see the grassroots are fired up. they're coming out now to embrace the trump agenda. and as gillespie has now articulated it, with the grassroots up, we win. sanctuary cities was not even an issue two and a half or three weeks ago. now it's a huge issue and could be a defining issue. i think virginia has shown if you get back to these issues of sovereignty and get back to these issues of sanctuary cities, kate's law, illegal aliens that you know, you can put a winning coalition together. so i think that whether gillespie wins on tuesday or not, he certainly closed an 8 1/2 or 9-point gap in 3 1/2 or 4 weeks, based on these issues. and i think those trump populis nationalist issues are winner. can win to 2018 to stick to program and not force amnesty down people's throats. >> turned out gillespie didn't close the nine point gap but lost by nine po

campaign, national co-chair of the trump campaign, the top policy official on the trump campaign, this guy who is currently an administration official working for the trump administration, apparently the white house had no idea that he testified to the grand jury until they read about it in the press this week, which presumably means they have not been advised as to whether or not sam clovis sought immunity in exchange for his grand jury testimony. and just based on that plea agreement that's just been unsealed regarding george papadopoulos, i mean, clovis as papadopoulos's campaign supervisor, he has obvious exposure to matters that the special counsel is investigating. for example in the plea agreement, papadopoulos said that he was advised by his russian contacts that they had dirt on hillary clinton and that they had thousands of e-mails. it doesn't say anywhere in the plea agreement whether or not papadopoulos tried to obtain that dirt from the russians or those thousands of e-mails. it also doesn't say in the plea agreement if he told his superiors on the trump campaign that the
