second ago for christmas day. here it is. that's snow in the sierra, that's a kind of weaker cold front that we've been monitors, but it's very week. this frontal system if i speed this up ahead, on sunday december 24th, it does inch closer to the bay area, but only for the far north bay, so it's not going to be widespread, not going to be a soggy christmas, but the north bay may wake up -- the sierra snow is looking pretty good. if you're going to lake a tahoe today or tomorrow, it's going to be your best bet, because come tomorrow we'll be dealing with some slick roads. if i fast forward this through monday, it just completely moves out, clears out completely on actual christmas day. we're talking about the rain chances late christmas each into really early christmas morning. and a high pressure system bringing that dryness back. upper 50s, we've got the chance of showers far off to the north and christmas eve into early christmas morning, we're going to keep that into place. tomorrow 57 degrees, it might be more cloudy tomorrow, but we are expecting to be dry for the majority of the

update on the sierra snow pack. now, we are looking at some of those snow levels only at about 24% of normal for the northern sierra and then around lake tahoe it's about 33% of normal. the statewide average is only 28% of where we should be. so big deal, especially as we are going into what's supposed to be our wettest months of the year. and then as we look at the bay area and what's coming down the pike as we end out the year and move into the new year, finally a significant chance of rain and there will be some snow in the sierra as well, but that does not come until next wednesday. so we will still have some dry weather over the next several days. new year's day looks good, more clouds moving in, san francisco reaching into the upper 50s. we will be ringing in the new year with temperatures in the mid 40s there and inland areas down into the lower 40s in some spots. more clouds and, look at that, finally some showers. i will be tracking all of that for you. mike is still saying there is some light traffic right now. >> light traffic now and likely through the end of the year, the

going to the sierra this weekend, but then look at these high temperatures, it's going to reach into the upper 50s tomorrow and some lower 50s for the rest of the weekend. shouldn't have any problems getting there because we haven't had any snow recently, but that's part of the problem, too. i wanted to show you the sierra snow pack update, we are for most of the sierra only at about 20 to 30% of normal for the amount of snow we should have at this point at the end of december, compare that to last year, we were at 72%, we know we had a lot more of those snowstorms rolling through and for this year it's been few and far between. hopefully we get some snow next week but it does look like for the next several days it does stay dry. also for the bay area a lot of storm systems rolling to the north of us but look at the change in our pattern as we go into next week, it does show a fairly significant storm system starting to move in by tuesday into wednesday that could bring us a decent amount of rain. i will continue to track that. in the meantime we will have a nice next several da
