by the chinese in san francisco have had their difficulties. it seems to me that they are now fully assimilated. we have had historical things such as the first chinese bishop, named bishop in san francisco. and you have come to serve the chinese community here. so can you tell us about it? what is it doing and what are your activities, what are the challenges? >> from the very beginning when the chinese immigrants came here , our church really opened our doors to welcome all the immigrants. they had difficulties in the beginning, it is really hard for them, for the church to find a catholic priest to serve them because not many priests speak chinese. but gradually, especially in the beginning of the 20th century, establishing of chinese missions, from that moment on people began to organize. and we saw that they started to evangelize. they opened a chinese school. evangelizing is always the goal of our church, to bring christ to the chinese population in the bay area's, and we have tried to revive and create programs to evangelize. >> i notice
