i'm hearing one of the legacies of the ceo, tim cook, was really securing the supply chain. what happened? mark: he was defensive about his supply chain. he was asked on the earnings call yesterday, after the results, if apple needs to make tweaks to the supply chain in order to avoid issues. this is the third time in the last three years were apple has had a fundamental supply chain issue related to china, that has caused problems and delays. in 2019, they were blaming the situation in china for a slowdown in sales. obviously, the coronavirus, which nobody could have predicted, the supply chain issues from that. we have the chip shortage. now you have the shanghai closure is that is really impacting the final assembly. what apple has been doing is that they have been moving final assembly to other parts of the world. some is now in india. there was a time they did final assembly in brazil. so they are trying things, but they do not have enough output outside of mainland china to produce at the iphone, ipad and watch in the volumes and that they need for global shipments. so

cook talked about that. the way i would look at apple is the following. it is still a strong, safe, extremely i say predictable company in a certain way, so it provides that level of reassurance and stability to portfolios there aren't that many people overweight apple, too big a percent of the s&p so they keep it in their portfolios, it is such a great company. whether it is too expensive a stock, remember, it outperformed dramatically last year and has been a very strong performer through the pandemic and since we reopened, whether it is slightly too expensive is really the question and that's what professional investors debate. do you want to pay a multiple and a half or two times what the market is selling for, maybe you don't. what do you do with the money otherwise. that to me is still a debate on apple. is this quality so high you want to retain it in your portfolio and not worry about what four or five months from now will be a problem that they resolved >> josh, we made the point, and you did going

emily: i spoke to tim cook yesterday that said they still see supply issues and they are exclusively almost related to chips that impacted several of their products and also said on the call supply is an $8 billion in parts -- pat: we had positive news for china in that regard and that is challenging for the pcm and oems in apple. a fair amount of business went through there as well. overall, the big story is around building up the semi conductor capacity. we had felt like 23 we would see the equilibrium and now in no small part because of some of the equipment shortages the equipment that goes into the products we are building, we see those leadtimes push out substantially. as a result, we ask back the overall semi conductor shortage to not be resolved until 2024 now as some of the capacities come online. that said, we feel like we are better positioned than most. the combination of our internet capacity as well as our leverage of foundries, we are better positioned and that is part of the structural advantage intel has and our execution machine is performing well. we are working cl
