i would like to echo what was said earlier about director brinkman. it is very sad to hear you'll be leaving us, and i thank you for your long-time service here at the board. i'm sure --ime i'l -- i'll be speaking about bike lanes later. but right now i want to talk about something completely different, and that is the san francisco/oakland bay bridge, which has had bus lanes on it for about two years of its almost century-long existence. you may have heard there is an effort going on to bring back bus lanes on the bay bridge, and there is a few organizations, the east bay, working with assembly member bonta, on an effort there, that has been supported by the bart board and the alameda county transportation commission because their governance doesn't make any sense, either. as well as by the city councils in berkeley and oakland, and maybe emeryville, if i remember correctly. a.c. transit, obviously, operates transit bus service on the bay bridge. i would like to remind you all that the muni 25 line also operates on the bay bridge, and its unreliabili

ditto what director brinkman said. i appreciate the thoughtfulness that went into the budget. i wonder if -- i support what we are doing and i like the proposals of holding the cash fare at this time. looking forward to the future, from a transparency standpoint, what is the plan for the next budget? will we increase the fares in line with the fare policy? i wonder what our plan is. it is important for the public to have expectations around that even in uncertain times. >> our policy will continue to be indexing the fares upward on the average of cost of living and inflation. this is important in order to allow fares to continue to increase with our costs and so that we don't artificially hold fares flat and then be forced to have a massive increase every few years. a modest increase every year is more helpful. all of this is in the context of however we shape the next new revenue measure. the next new revenue measure could ask what is the appropriate fare box return rate for s.f.m.t.a. and make changes there. we can continue to look specifically at who uses individual fare ca
