francisco. >> i am from san francisco. i grew up in the local neighborhood. i did my under deprad wait work at fisk university, where i studied political science with a concentration in public administration and worked eight years largely in the public sector. then i earned a master's degree from carnegie melon in pittsburg, pennsylvania. i spent some time as assistant executive director for a non-profit. we did work if a lot of kids in the neighborhood. i have done fundraising for candidates and issues. i have experience with the federal reserve bank of san francisco. when i look around my neighborhood and see the changes that are happening, i so there is no neighborhood grocery store. i see that small businesses in particular are coming and going, and they haven't been able to really sustain themselves. from my work experience in working for the city in the mayor's office as well as in the non-profit, i had a good sense as to what some of the challenges were. when i look in the future, i could see more challenges coming.

at san francisco general hospital. as we come together, we really work to figure out how to collaborate and how to improve this situation we know that there are programs that we can get data for but we wanted to see the system as a whole and to be able to have the data to analyze that and we wanted to make this information available to groups and other department so that we will be able to join in and make sure that all are eating healthy. and i am going to go into the framework that we have utilized for this analysis and supervisor mar touched on it in his opening comments. we know that food security and healthy eating are really complex policy issues and you cannot just look at the issue from one dimension. and we search for a way to communicate this better and understand it better but we found it from the world health organization to be helpful for us and we have modified that. and so it has allowed us to accurately examine

we are here at the san francisco urban center on mission street in san francisco and i'm joined today by marrielen from puc and talk about water and sewer issues. what are things we should be concerned about water. >> you want to be prepared for that scenario and the recommendation is to have stored 1 gallon per person per day that you are out of water. we recommend that you have at least 3-5 days for each person and also keep in consideration storage needs for your pets and think about the size of your pets and how much water they consume. >> the storage which is using tap water which you are going to encourage. >> right. of course at the puc we recommend that you store our wonderful delicious tap water. it's free. it comes out of the tap and you can store it in any plastic container, a clean plastic container for up to 6 months. so find a container, fill it with water and label it and rotate it out. i use it to water my garden. >> of course everyone has plastic bottles which we are not really promoting but it is a common way to store it. >> yes. it's an easy way to pick up bottles t

francisco, chartered by the democratic party here in san francisco, we are the local democratic voice for our communities and, you know, we are here to oppose the i believe they are recommendations 4 and 6 to impose time limits and begin charging. as was alluded, director nolan, i appreciate the comments that you made at the beginning regarding the economic impact. you know, there's another issue behind this. we believe that we acknowledge that there is fraud in this system. however, we don't believe that the fraud is so pervasive that it is vital, the only way to save the system is to advice rate the benefits that it offers and we would draw an analogy to some law makers in congress that believe fraud and misuse of food stamps and unemployment are so pervasive that you have to obliterate those programs. so it's really important to recognize as we sit here, we have an affordability crisis in san francisco. and it's not simply just low income folks and high income folks but that's really what it's turning into, it really is turning into a tale of two cities. it is also the middle incom

the benefits of free wi-fi in san francisco are many. not only will it further open up our parks and our city to innovation, to education, and includetionthv i. for all san francisco residents, but it's also as i mentioned before a significant step towards bridging our digital divide in our city. it provides local groups and community residents access to the internet they might not have had before, as well for our rec and park department as phil knows all too well many rec centers still use dial up service. when we think about registering our children for camps and play grounds, what we need to do in our daily lives, but also our government on a daily basis to use technology, this will be an incredible boone to our rec and park department and something we should all be very excited about. in terms of the details of the gift, google is providing a $600,000 financial gift to our city with no strings attached. i think a lot of the prior debate around free wi-fi in san francisco that never moved forward was because of different questions abo

francisco san mateo and santa clara counties and that will increase to 500 bikes next year. bike sharing is a very important part of the future of transportation in san francisco in terms of becoming truly a transit first city we all want to have more access to biking in san francisco and this is a key part of that strategy. for people who have bikes they may not want to carry those bikes around with them all the time and having the option to be without your bike and still bike when necessary is important and in addition there are people that don't own a bike but they want to be able to bike when they need to get somewhere and muni or driving or walking isn't necessarily an option. so transit first is about giving people as many options as possible biking and bike sharing are one of those options. it's also important that we move consistent ly to have a city wide bike sharing program currently the pilot is focussed on the downtown civic center south of market area which is terrific but i can attest to the fact that in my district i get regular requests and queries when are w
