there is more traffic there for westbound 92. and looks like that traffic is extremely slow just on the span itself. 880 is still rolling well through oakland and hayward heading for the san mateo bridge. but it is certainly having a big impact. also on local transit. muni is now saying that the bus lines that normally run in the fremont street area are rerouting because of the bay bridge traffic that's now being dumped on fremont street. this is what the detour looks like for folks who need to get off the bay bridge. they are getting off at fremont right now. you have to take howard down about 4 blocks and then get on westbound 80 from 4th and harrison but now south of market area certainly in gridlock. there's lots of construction and lanes shut down in the area, as well. just a huge mess. take bart if you can. they expect this mess to be out there until at least 8 a.m. we also have problems on the sunol grade with a "sig alert." i'll have details on that with my next traffic report. >> a good day to stay home. >>> let's get ou

there was an early accident from highway 4 westbound, 24-minute delay. a stall at north flynn and slow from the central valley again this morning. kristen? eric? >> bay area residents are cleaning up after a wild weekend storm caused damage. matt keller in san jose where some were left with no power. matt? >> what a mess from the storm. we the pile of branches is what is left behind after a tree went down on north 6th street in san jose. can you see the damage to the s.u.v. just in the wrong place at the wrong time. here is what it looked like yesterday. the tree crashed damaging several cars on the street and took out power lines. power was out in several areas of the city for hours as pg&e crews worked all day to restore electricity. it the south bay wasn't the only area to see tumbling trees the mangled branches came down in the north beach district and in hayward afternoon winds pushed over the 40 year old tree that crashed into the volcano ash normally usedded to driver special needs kids to their appointments. >> my moment walked scout saw the tree

this is where some drivers are getting diverted off of westbound 80. but, really, the problem is, of course, the backup on the bridge and so now the reopened time is estimated at 7:30 to 8:00 this morning. so, yeah, backed up on the bridge. and, also, the harrison street off ramp closure. that is a bit of a problem, as well. that is very heavily used street there, harrison. with our chopper view, though, you see the pickup truck had dropped 10 to 15 five-gallon buckets of paint. messy. cal transweepers there also using sand to lay that down to help with the traction on the road. one lane currently opened and one closed. the flare is out and drivers are going very slowly. you can count about a dozen different trucks moving around there. the real story is that backup as you heard mike say this morning. jammed soled from the maze to fremont street where we're live. the chp reporting that some drivers are trying to pass using the shoulder. so, people getting a little frustrated and impatient. again, warning against that, it is not safe to do. one more time

eastbound 80 connector to westbound 580 completely closed. that big rig also carrying a lot of cinderblocks so that's now scattered all over the roadway there. sweepers are on scene. chp is saying 6:00 is the estimated time for lanes to open up through albany. this is east 80 connector to westbound 580. now, several vehicles have hit debris in the roadway. they are off to the right shoulder. so you have a lot of activity there on scene. in the meantime, as an alternate, use central. that gets you back on the 580 if you want to use that westbound across the richmond/san rafael bridge. in fact, if you plan to go eastbound 80, you can exit central to get back on 80 once you pass the delays there. so again, we'll keep you updated on that and bring you a live look at the scene in just a few minutes. elsewhere, so far no trouble spots at the bay bridge. we have a couple cars in the cash lanes but that's typical this time of the morning. metering lights are off and it's an easy ride out of oakland into san francisco. no delays across the span. 880 r
