mark: and the wedding, o.j. simpson and the call, and there was a huge crash -- o.j. simpson and nicole, and there was a huge question about guilt or innocence. i think the thoughts are still true today. ezra: i think you will find that the percentage of black americans who think he's innocent is much smaller than it was then. younger americans are able to accept he was guilty? ezra: the initial evidence came out, like about the shoes he was wearing, so it was proven that encasedearing the shoes in a bloody footprint at the scene, so that is damming. and when you look good what it happened to him in this 20 having your period -- in this there is a level to which none of us can understand after going through what it does to that person, whether he did toward and how crazy it makes you, but he did not go the straight and narrow path. that makes people less forgiving of him as a character and less having the idea that he is innocent. these perspectives have a certain kind of validity, right? at the same time, you come do a sense that there is a case to be made that o.j.

o.j. simpson's life and ezra adelman joins me now. you are such an egg --. >> i get to be on your show. i made it. kennedy: you were researcher fresh out of college and i realized as i was doing research on this amazing project you were in college during this whole trial. how important was that process for you and o.j. simpson in the case making an impression on your life? >> not as much as you might think. i was in college. probably paid attention to the less because i had other stuff to do. i remember watching the chase and i remember watching the verdict. i don't remember being emotionally involved. that in fact is what i was upset about. people came to my house and that was during the summer stars at my parents house in washington d.c. and prince came over to watch steve -- watch the game and return on tv and there's oj. kennedy: one of the most fascinating things for seniors for about o.j. simpson and this is one thing i can't shake him his desire to be famous. it wasn't to be the greatest player, wasn't to be a wealthy person. w

. >> how many ways did the o.j. simpson case change a life? >> so many ways that i don't even have the ability to describe it. it certainly did make me look at my life and decide to take another turn, whether i would've left the prosecutor's office had it not been for the symptom simpson case, i couldn't tell you. i don't know. maybe i would've anyway but i certainly did after that case. i found a whole different life. >> this is your fifth book? >> yes what get you started on writing fiction? >> so i actually did a number of things, i was a commentator and i did hosting and all kinds of speaking and lecture series and i did a lot of things. then i wound up on consultants on a one-hour drama for lifetime then i started writing script and then the creator of that show and i went out and started writing pilot then we sold pilots to a few networks and then i decided, i've always wanted to write since i was a kid. if not now, when and so that's what happened. i started writing fiction. >> i have one nonfiction book about a trial. it's now out in e
