12 here in sonoma county being closed for several hours.according to the chp, 25 year old jose lopez-perez of santa rosa was driving this ford truck westbound on highway 12 through unicoporated sonoma county early tuesday morning. around 745 just west of aqua caliente road , lopez-perez allegedly crossed a double yellow line and struck this eastbound nissan sentra head on. witnesses have said that lopez-perez may have been trying to pass other cars at the time of the accident.the driver of the nissan, 27-year- old estefania soto, of boyes hot springs was wearing a seatbelt but suffered major injuries and died at the scene. a -7-year-old girl was also in the nissan but despite being in a child seat she also suffered major injuries and was transported to santa rosa memorial hospital.lopez-perez, who was wearing a seatbelt, survived the crash, but was badly injured. he was also transported to the hospital and has since been charged with driving under the influencedfollowing the collision the highway patrol had highway 12 closed until around noon. in sonoma county charles clifford kron 4 news.
