i'm laura garcia. >> i'm scott mcgrew. marcus washington getting the new year off to an early start, he's off this morning, as is kari but we have vianey double dipping. >> we have traffic and weather, i've got you covered. so far we're under a microclimate weather alert and here is the reason why. wind advisory is in effect for the hills above 1,000 feet and solano county. the gusts are expected to be upwards of 60 plus miles per hour, hills sustained winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour and that's also going to play a role in the windchill factor. as you head out the door, it's 42 degrees for santa rosa, 45 for san francisco, 44 for san jose, and 40 degrees for mountain view, but when the windchill factor plays a role in it, that makes our temperatures feel much colder and we'll continue to see the winds kick up and gust up throughout the day, so definitely going to be something that i'll keep you updated, as all day long it kicks up in terms of the winds. >>> let's get a check of the tra sk. you're wondering, what are the r

. >> i'm laura garcia. we brought you live coverage of the fog earlier on "today in the bay." let's see what the conditions are like right now. looking at san francisco, oakland, fremont and the bay bridge. you can see some clearing there. at least at the bay bridge. >> meteorologist kari hall has been tracking what it's like right now and our next chance for rain. >> we're still seeing the patches of fog out there in parts of the bay area. this is a look in soma and san francisco. and then as we head over across the bay to emeryville, it's clear here, but oakland still has low clouds and fog. so we're going to continue to see the drifts of the fog rolling by, but gradually clearing out with some sunshine. this is a look at tiburon as the fog starts to lift a bit, allowing for some of that sunshine to come in while santa rosa getting some clearing out there right now. so as we take a look at our visibility, we're still at zero in oakland. napa down to a quarter of a mile. once again seeing a lot of improvement elsewhere across the bay area. and it's still pretty cool out there

laura garcia is off this morning. we'll get to the breaking news in a second. we want to make sure you're ready for your day whether you're headed out to work, maybe hitting the road early. it's going to be breezy out there. >> that's going to be the concern today. the wind advisory that starts at 7:00 a.m. mostly for bay area hills. if you will be driving, you will need to keep a tight grip on the steering wheel as our winds kick up to 20 to 25 miles per hour sustained and gusts may reach over 50 miles per hour, which could bring down some trees. we'll start to see the winds picking up by 10:00 to 11:00 this morning and gradually subsiding going into tonight. i'll have a look at that. and also what's ahead for the weekend coming up. vianey, drivers on the bridges will have to watch the wind gusts. >> they certainly will. so far it seems like that's going to be the biggest hazard going into the roads this morning because so far the roads have managed to stay fairly nice and clear in terms of major accidents. we just had a couple fender-benders. overall this is

. >> and i'm kris sanchez, in for laura garcia. good to be with you. especially nice to be outside, when it's so cold out there, vianey. >> we're seeing high clouds rolling in, that will help warm up our morning temperatures a little bit. this is exactly what our satellite radar is showcasing right now, the high clouds rolling through. let me show you the 24-hour temperature change and some areas of fog, but not hitting the bay area. you could see patchy fog in through santa rosa. the numbers that you see on your screen are the temperatures running warmer than where we were yesterday at this exact hour. look at napa, running 12 degrees warmer at this hour because of those high clouds. in through concord, five degrees warmer. san francisco is running about nine degrees warmer and half moon bay waking up to the upper 50s, running about 13 degrees warmer, so we're definitely noticing a nice increase in temperatures thanks to the clouds, but clouds will also be bringing a sign of the showers just ahead. i'll have a closer look at when the rain is moving in

i'm laura garcia. >> and i'm shall with wheremarc. we head over to meteorologist kari hall with a look at the forecast for this wednesday morning. we start off a little foggy. >> that's the main issue, especially in the tri valley and also parts of the north bay. this is a live look outside at 580 in dublin. cars making it through the fog just fine but visibility has dropped down to three-quarters of a mile there, and we're also seeing the patches of fog drifting around parts of the north bay. elsewhere, we're mostly clear. as you get up and get the kids ready for school in the tri valley, pleasanton 45 degrees. at 54 at 11:00 and the sun breaking out more as we go into the afternoon. we'll talk about all of our microclimates and the weekend forecast. mike, you're tracking a new crash in emeryville. >> it is a sensitive area, westbound 80 around powell out of berkeley toward emeryville, a crash is reported there, but i don't see the sensors slowing much over the last few minutes. that is a critical portion, as you approach the berkele

and i )m kira klapper in for laura garcia. that officer-involved shooting unfolded not too far from san jose city college. it )s a story we brought to you as breaking news all morning long. nbc bay area )s bob redell is live on the scene where he just spoke to a witness, bob ? this was around 2:30 this morning. we just spoke to the woman who shot that the suspect crashed into the fence by the school playground and collided with an officer squad car. she says another squad car arrived to sandwich the suspect vehicle between the two police units. she tells us two officers were outside their vehicles yelling commands at the suspects, something we could hear on her video. she says the officers opened fire when the suspect reversed, pulled forward and hit at least one of the cop cars in the process. >> at first, if you hear the video that i had, i was laughing, because i thought that was funny, you know, because i'm like this idiot is trapped, he's not going anywhere. you know, they had him. they sandwiched the vehicle. and they ju
