i want to bring in nina turner, former ohio state senator and former co-chair of bernie sanders presidential campaign. she recently lost her own bid for congress. and also scott jennings, former adviser, senator minority leader mitch mcconnell. welcome to you both. let me begin with you, scott. when people are thinking about this primary and this notion of trump saying, just go ahead and declare the victory because you don't want those pes si, well, mailed in ballots of getting in your way. you have some memory flashbacks of what happened in places like pennsylvania, for example, in 2020, and like in georgia in containment of the big lie. when you hear trump say that, what comes to mind for you? what is your reaction? >> well, it worked out great for him, right? it's not like the country was plunged into a massive crisis we're still dealing with today. >> not at all. >> by the way, he's recommending that we disenfranchise a bunch of republicans, people in his own party. this is not the right advice. i don't know who has the advantage here. it's a very close race. and i think republicans are

. >> when it comes to cabinet selections, there had been talk about those bernie sanders or elizabeth warren have -- did they want to be on the cabinet? that's something which -- how much control do senate republicans, mitch mcconnell, have over that, do you think? >> traditionally, although that changed in the last four years, but traditionally, the senate gives the president the cabinet he wants. unless there's people that are clearly unqualified or have ethical problems or other things. so i think mitch mcconnell and the republicans will give the president the cabinet he wants. so i don't think that's going to be a big issue. can i make one point? everybody is talking about unity. i think americans clearly would love to see this country a little bit more divided. but everyone seems to think that unity is accomplished by tone. that, you know, if you just are nicer and if you don't say nice -- you aren't mean to people, somehow you'll unify the country. that's not enough. i mean, i'm not saying that's not a good thing. it is a good thing and you've heard me criticize the president fo

the senate then is supposed to go into a recess august 9th though senator bernie sanders, one of several senators saying they expect the reconciliation budget resolution may find its way to the floor of the senate that week. what are you going to be watching for during this process as congress attempts to pass these two pieces of legislation? >> well, the reconciliation doesn't require republican support so what you're looking for is do senators manchin and sinema, what are they saying? democrats real will he want the rest of the items to pass as well. that was the deal and so it's those two senators who have so much power right now on capitol hill. that's who you keep an eye for. will they go along with the party or will they become the source of obstruction? >> i want to ask you specifically about senator from arizona, christyn cisin ema. some of them have drawn the ire of people in her own party. how does the white house successfully balance these two wings of the democratic party? here are some of the tweets for our viewers. >> basically it's carrots and sticks. i do think there is a

big rallies of late, but we all know bernie sanders has had large rallies from the very beginning. he's had a lot of ground swell of support. for vice president biden, i wouldn't read too much into the size of his crowds, because largely, his voters are going to be older, but they're also extremely reliable voters. they are going to show up. they may not have to show up at a rally, but they will show up at the polls. i think what i would take from this recent poll is that this race is still open. i know many people want to foreclose it and already determined that we've got a front-runner nominee, but i actually think a lot can change. the one place i wouldn't want to be right now is on top. because for certain, i think things are going to shift. i ran in a race where i was never, ever in the lead in the primary and in the general, i was never, ever second. so i have a curious -- a mercurial relationship with polling. >> these are all good points, no question. sorry, you had a thought, governor? >> yeah, i just wanted to say, there's one thing that the monmouth poll did do was help

sanders and progressives really wanted to use this moment to give poor working americans a pay raise. >> reporter: that's right, christine. senate parliamentarian ruled last night that this $15 minimum wage increase wouldn't be included in this package that is going to be passed by the house today. this is bad news for progressive democrats who really wanted to see this legislation included or this proposal included in this legislation, but good news for moderate democrats such as kyrsten sinema and joe manchin. so what happens now, right? so the house is going to vote on this today. it's likely to pass. after that it will go to the senate who will now likely pass it as well with this -- the removal of this $15 minimum wage increase proposal. they're trying to get this on biden's desk before mid march before they're set to lose their unemployment benefits. progressive democrats are having conversations about introducing separate legislation to increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour. and we're just going to keep an eye on all of that and see how it plays out. >> daniella diaz, thank

you have this unusual coalition from bernie sanders on the left and josh hawley with support from the administration, the administration would like to see some sort of direct payments go out as part of a covid relief package, kind of put the issue back on the radar for congressional negotiators. but there's a problem here, there's not infinite amount of money to spend. republicans, it has been a constant tension for most of the republican senators getting more and more uneasy by the day about all of the money and federal dollars going out the window. that's kind of where the tension came yesterday where bernie sanders and his allies say it is a false choice, you can have robust stimulus checks and dole out unemployment benefits. manchin who is negotiating with republicans is saying there's kind of a ceiling for how much money you can spend. with the money that we have, we would much rather direct it towards unemployment benefits where it is almost guaranteed those dollars will be spent rather than checks for people that are not only unemployed but employed with a steady paycheck comin

you fact checked a bernie sanders speech. we have to dig into this. and not just check trump and what he says. what were your findings. >> give you the specific finding and the broader thought. as of out of 27 claims that we checked, we found 18 that were true or basically true. 6 where we couldn't render a verdict known. and three that were false. one of those wasn't sanders fault. he was given a bad figure. was was his favorite exaggeration. and the other was an inaccurate transcription of something in the tax law. my broader thought is this matters. all politicians would be at zero in claims for speech. but it struck me while doing this check canning how different this was than fact checking. for one averages 21 false claims per rally. and many of those are egregious fabrications. sanders dishonesty was traditional spin. he was stretching a little bit. taking a real figure and adding a spin on it. so the nature of the dishonest any in addition to the frequency is just no comparison between trump and anyone in the democratic field. >> do you intend
