and bernie sanders, the independent from vermont is also winning re-election. he caucuses with the democrat. so those are the two calls we'll make. but really the drama is in so many of these critical competitive races. and look at this. indiana, that is really -- look at that. look how close it is. 47-47. only 16% reporting. here's the key on this race. this is going to be an early bellwether as to whether or not republicans can retake control of congress. why? because it's a republican seat, an open republican seat. remember, richard murdoch, the one who made the comments about rape and pregnancy recently. that has hurt him in the polls. republicans i'm talking to tonight say he has to overperform romney by 10% in order to win. so we're really watching closely. and virginia, another neck and neck race, talking about the presidential being too close to call. same with virginia. george allen, the republican ahead by almost 350,000 points but very early in that state. >> and obviously one of the things we're watching is the balance of power on capitol h l hill.

one is for bernie sanders of vermont who won re-election tonight. the other is more towards the middle. that's because that's angus king, the newly elected independent senator of maine. all of these white seats in the middle are still those that are outstanding, those that are up for re-election right now. of course, still, neither has even close to the 51 needed to have the full-out majority of the senate. >> a lot of races to find out about. thanks very much. we will check in with our analysts. van jones, you've been looking at the wait times a lot of folks are having. we see them in virginia, see them a lot in florida. lot of people still on line. >> the numbers are important but there is a human drama that is playing out on the ground in these states. people are now afraid they may have to wait until tomorrow. these lines may be four hours long. you look at twitter, a hash tag, stay in line, is starting to move. obama, his fate in florida may hang on people's willingness to stay in line. it shouldn't take this type of heroism to vote in america

bernie sanders from vermont caucuses with the democrats. the newly elected senator from maine, angus king, is here. we put him towards the middle. the white seats are the ones we don't have projections yet. again, nobody has the 51 needed for an outright majority in the senate. >> obviously we're watching the numbers in colorado very closely. let's go to you for that, wolf. >> let's take a look. we've got new numbers from colorado. 22% of the vote is now in in colorado. the president has an advantage, 53% to 45%. about 600,000 votes have been counted almost. 51,000 vote advantage for the president. nine electoral votes at stake in colorado. we're watching that state very, very closely. we'll see what happens. only 22% of the vote is in. we're also watching, get this, the top of the empire state building turned romney red and obama blue based on cnn's election results. we're about to figure in our latest electoral vote projections. here it goes. there it is. stay right here to see the colored columns rise higher as each candidate gets more e
