., on august 12th from christie's deputy chief of staff bridget kelly. she wanted information about fort lee mayor mark sokolich. here's mowers testimony. >> she called to check in, if i recall correctly, and some of this is going to be paraphrasing from recollection, she said, is mayor sokolich endorsing? i said, no, you know, he's not. he's definitely not endorsing, right, not going to happen. i said, no, not going to happen. from everything i know, it's door shut, not going to happen. she said, okay, that's all i need to know. >> bridget kelly discovers from him, learns officially at 7:00 p.m. one night the door's shut on any endorsement for governor christie by the mayor of fort lee. well, the next morning she comes into the office at 7:35 a.m., beginning of business, kelly sends the infamous e-mail to david wildstein at the port authority telling him, "time for some traffic problems in fort lee." wildstein replies, "got it." testimony connecting christie's campaign in the form of mowers to the governor's office, that's, of course, bridget kelly. we

bridgette k bridget kelly sent an e-mail. we heard testimony she took orders from above and she was not the architect of the plan, but we still don't know who was the argue techitect or who gave order. that's why we continue to have these hearings. >> we have direct claims from governor christie himself saying he didn't know mark sokolich from adam. couldn't pick him out of a lineup. it wasn't important to him personally. has there been any alternate explanation put forward by anybody in a position to know that didn't relate to the ft. lee mayor that might explain where this vendetta came from and why they did it? >> there's the discredited theory by the report that said it was done because bridget kelly was distraught, which nobody clearly believes. >> everybody who is distraught lashes out by closing down bridges. >> it's a natural response, don't you think? that is really the heart of the problem we have here is that we have a group of people who at least turn a willful eye and don't look at the facts in front of them. we

christina renna who works under bridget kelly who gave the time for traffic in the fall email and pat floyd, the executive director of the port authority and said stop the closures, they violate state and federal law in last september. floyd will appear and they're not being asked for documents. floyd said he had indicated that she will do it. shuber has indicated that she will do it and i think we're still not sure about michael turniak and may 6th. >> and can we expect more subpoenas? >> the interesting thing is this, the legislative committee just lost a legal fight where they tried to subpoena bridget kelly and they wanted them to appear. they both invoked their fifth amendment right and a judge upheld that, and they have reasonable fear that they to be the targets of federal prosecution and could potentially complicate things for them. the judge left open how they will work practically. the judge left over the possibility that you can issue a narrower subpoena or that they can cissue a subpoena. they're looking to find a narrower subpoena that will get them involved somehow. >> y

kelly, bridget kelly, bridget kelly. >> but steve, the narrative is now being made if you read enough articles. the narrative is being made that governor christie has had a long standing political ambition. nothing wrong with that. f if you don't have ambition you don't get to be a successful politician. but that he's had a long standing political ambition and that this u.s. attorney's post was a steppingstone. >> true. >> this is for a guy who was never really a prosecutor in his legal training or his legal experience. as a matter of fact, he was running in morris county. he ran for assemblyman and didn't win. lost election as a freeholder. the stars aligned and he became the u.s. attorney. but not because he had a reputation as a great defense lawyer or former federal prosecutor or anything like that. when we talk about what he should have known as a former u.s. attorney or maybe should have expected as a former u.s. attorney, you have to keep in mind that this is a guy who has had ha political road map in front of him for years here. >> it's true. i guess the thing, when i say that

a legal battle to compel document production from two of the people that are at the center of this, bridget anne kelly, of course, who wrote the infamous "time for traffic problems in ft. lee," if there's anyone that knows the motive, it's her. >> you would think. >> and bill stepien, who's a campaign manager and adviser to governor christie, who's since been fired. the two of them have contested that on fifth amendment grounds. a court recently found in their favor. what is the next step and where do you go from here? >> well, the judge ruled three things. she said that the subpoena was overbrought. so we can clearly narrow the scope of the subpoena and that might work. the judge also said that the committee has very broad immunization powers. and so that if we really wanted the documents in the format we asked, we could immunize those individuals. but we still have a variety of documents that we're still going through and individuals that we still need to bring in for testimony. and so while two of the 28 subpoenas that we issued ran into challenges, 26 of the 28 did not. and there's thou
