[ horse neighing ] [ man yells ] >> we are in the midst of "sleepy hollow" country. this is the home of the american heritage of halloween, and we've always had fantastic halloween events in this area, and this is probably one of the best. >> more than 4,000 pumpkins are used to create all sorts of clever and spooky scenes. for some displays, artificial pumpkins are needed, but most are real. >> we are in front of our jurassic park installation, where we have giant, life-sized dinosaurs that are constructed of, in some cases, more than a hundred pumpkins. we sketch them from anatomy books and create them so that they're accurate. each pumpkin represents a specific bone

. >> jumping jacks. let's go. then came the prisoners of war. >> all: then came the prisoners of war. >> and the whole concept is to teach them that prisoners have rights, as well, and that they are allowed to get in touch with their family members. they are allowed to speak to the international committee of the red cross. >> at first, it was a little bit exciting, 'cause we were moving around and doing stuff, but then, i actually realized that it stood for something -- like, for example, the push-ups were representing, like, torture and physical activity. and then, later, we learned that that was actually violating the geneva laws that are human rights. >> next, we learned about humanitarian assistance. >> this activity teaches students about what it feels like to be a humanitarian-aid worker. so, instead of being members of the haddarian army, they are now members of the international committee of the red cross. >> the mission is to carry a box of supplies through a dangerous area. >> okay. >> okay, now put it d

hi, i'm jack hanna, here at my base camp on the serengeti plain at busch gardens, tampa bay. the endangered african penguin inhabits offshore coastal islands, so i was really surprised to find an entire colony of these guys living and relaxing on a public beach near cape town. but penguins aren't the only birds that caught my eye in south africa. at the world of birds, walter mangold's feathered friends come from all over the world. [ african tribal music plays ]

i like the ring of it -- "jack, mayor of stingray city." but you haven't lived until you've been kissed by this saucer-shaped member of the shark family. [ african tribal music plays ]

hi, everyone, i'm jack hanna here at my base camp on the serengeti plain at busch gardens, tampa bay. on this "animal adventure," we're going on an african safari to one of the best game parks in the world -- the masai mara. thousands of tourists visit here every year, but they are still outnumbered by big-game animals. i've been to the masai mara before, but never like this. the guy next to him is jack dunn, the owner of the baltimore orioles. george was so young, that in order to hire him, dunn had to become george's legal guardian. >> they go to spring training and the baltimore sun starts referring to george ruth as "jack dunn's baby," and by may of that year, it had been shortened to "babe ruth." >> soon, fans could tune into radio broadcasts of the babe pitching for the boston red sox. but he was even more valuable as a slugger. he moved on to the championship yankees and stardom. but he always made time for his fans, especially young ones. >> there are many stories about the babe coming home from yankee stadium after a game, and he would stop the car if he saw a game of ball going on, and get out and play with the kids because he just was like that. >> babe ruth had a heart as big as yankee stadium. mike told me the story of babe's promise to a kid dying of a rare disease. it was a promise that seems to have helped save the young fan's life. >> over here, you see a bunch of baseballs all signed by babe ruth, but the o
