jacob peklo, reporting: "at this point, there are no suspects. it is the city's 17th homicide of the year. reporting downtown, jacob peklo, local five news. we are iowa." nikki: a man is recovering from a stab wound after a fight at a metro bar... according to the des moines police report a man and his girlfriend were at scores bar on hickman when another man insulted the woman... that led to an arguement... the victim says he and his girlfriend left the bar...and were followed by their attacker... eventually the victim says he got out of his car to resolve the situation...and thats when the other man stabbed him. the victim told police his attacker then got into his car and took off... while the victim went to mercy hospital for treatment for his wounds... the case is still under investigation... nikki: a burger king employee says he was assaulted by two customers last night inside the resturant... happened yesterday on south east 14th street... the employee said two black males entered the store...and he recognized them to be the same people th

local five's jacob peklo joins us now with more. jacob: hundreds of volunteers spent their morning...prepari ng meals for families in need. but now, one former homeless man has made it back on his feet, and is giving to those who have the greatest needs. and he never wants to forget the changes that he's made. terry gable remembers hitting rock bottom. terry gable, intake coordinator: "while sitting in eight days of jail, i decided i'd had enough of that old life, and wanted something new." after battling an addiction to drugs and alcohol, he joined the program at hope ministries, designed to help people get their lives back on track. terry gable, intake coordinator: "after turning my life over, it completely changed. it transformed my whole life for me and my family." now, six years after first volunteering to work here, he's got a full time job. and when he sees more than 200 other people giving their time on this thanksgiving day, he knows firsthand how it can make a big difference. here and ate, myself, when i was running around

reporting live in des moines, jacob peklo local 5 news we are iowa. nikki: police are investigating two other homicides in the metro over the weekend. in waukee-- police were called to the 500 block of southeast carefree lane around 1:30 saturday morning. that's where officers found a man with multiple gun shots wounds. 41-year-old gino risola was taken to a local hospital where he later died later, police arrested 42-year old brendan mcguinness in the afternoon and charged him with first degree murder. nikki: multiple law enforcement agencies assisted in the search for mcguinness... he was arrested on the east side of des moines when a passerby found him on a sidewalk with a minor head injury... not knowing who he was officers responded to assist and recognized mcguinness. he was arrested without inicident... friends of the suspect and victim can't understand why this happened... "they had a little quarrel that they were kind of working through from an incident that happened a couple months again, but nothing that would lead to murder." nikki: mcguin
