veronese asked for, so i appreciate that being part of your report. >> chief nicholson: thank you, president nakajo, commissioners, maureen. so the command staff and i, as i told you the -- at -- at the previous commission meeting, deputy chief velo and myself and deputy chief wyrsch have been visiting the fire stations as well as having a town hall at station 49. we're continuing to do that, and we're getting good feedback, good communications with everyone, and as they say, sometimes the best ideas happen over a cup of coffee and we're really getting some good ideas and some good conversations have begun. so we're getting some really good ideas from the stations and once we get that, we'll setup a plan for command staff to go to all of the stations. members have until june 17 to apply for the committee and work groups that we are going to be reorganizing and reestablishing. we've had several committees and work groups over the years, and not all of them have been active. and what we would like to see -- basically, there's too much work for the command staff to handle, and we als

, commissioner cleaveland. commission commission commission commissioner. >> commissioner veronese: ans r answered by the fact of the cancer, what could be doing better in the department as a way of women's issues? not to put you on the spot. because we can always be doing better. >> well, let's see -- no, i think that we are only complementing what the department has already set in place in terms of -- with extractors, we have turnout extractor, turnouts being serviced and checked for the smallest little holes as well as maybe velcro that's not functioning properly. i think in the field the officers and the battalion chiefs are doing a really good job of reminding and making it a priority to take that, you know, you pull up and fire is going out of the second floor, make sure that your equipment is on properly. if that hood is not protecting your neck or your gloves are not on properly and whatnot, you are not prepared for that. as heather was saying, being ready to go in as best protected as possible. and then coming out, having, i've seen chief operators come out and you are standing a

untenable. we cannot continue like this. >> thank you mr. president. commissioner veronese. >> thank you for pointing those items out. you are absolutely correct. commissioner covington, you are also correct in over the last few years, the city has a homeless department that is a 300 million-dollar budget. as of last year, we approved prop h purports to bring another $300 million to the city. i know we had a windfall of $400 million this year, much of which is going to homelessness or housing. which are all very good causes but what we need to stress to the mayor's office and the board of supervisors, it's great that we have all this money and we're putting autopsy thi all this moo homelessness but we're addressing homelessness over here so some of that should come to us. as opposed to finding new projects to pay for and new departments to pay for. i know the department of health last year, i want to say they were over budget by several hundred million dollars and as i sit here and think about the billing, what do you know we pay our billing company to service that? >> it's commission-ba

covington. commissioner veronese. >> commissioner veronese: chief, that picture of you is priceless. i'm not going to ask who you were on the phone with. >> with the chief. >> commissioner veronese: okay. that's a great picture to be used at another moment. getting to this narcan, july to september 2019, thank you, thank you. this is great information, and it shows that from july of 2018 to september, we've more than doubled in narcan administration, and it appears to be some sort of a spike in april -- straike that. it goes in april from may to 181, a huge spike. i don't know what's going on on the streets, but clearly, something happened at the end of may that could cause that to -- would cause that to spike, and i'm not sure if the department of health has this information but if they don't, we should probably give it to them because it paints a picture of what's going on in the streets, and it would be great to know what the strategy is because these numbers have gone up. it's gone up to 214 from then. is this something that we see once this strain -- is it fentanyl or opioid strain

of our e.m.s. 6 attributes. for commissioner veronese, we included the identifiable home address report. >> i like that, that's a good idea. >> i'm trying to decipher everything here. >> you added the totals, i appreciate that. >> the totals are here, 37% with no identifiable addresses, i have to rename this report, i think. sometimes we have to be aware that a lot of these are repeat patients, something to think about. for our e.m.s. 6 report, we have some notable statistics. if you notice on this chart, our top three callers in the month of march, our top caller called 22 times. we have that down to 6 in april. the second highest caller was 21 calls in march, down to 8. and our third highest caller, 19 calls in march, down to 2. i think that it's a very successful program we're working on with e.m.s. 6, they referred 124 patients they offer support to. we neconnected with 49 of them. 49 of them were either sent to a shelter, program, or service to help them in their need. so great job by e.m.s. 6. so fire marshal put it together a comprehensive report here, he's available for c
